St. Louis In Home Senior Care Services

As a leader in the private duty home care industry, we are dedicated to providing the best care possible. We do this by adhering to our mission statement and four core values, being present in the community, and advocating for our caregivers, our clients, and the families of both.

By participating in both state and national professional associations, we feel we are an extension of the clients we serve. Seniors Home Care is proud to be associated with the following organizations:

  • Missouri Alliance for Home Care (MAHC) – Represents home care services in the state of Missouri.
  • Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) – Outlines best practices for home care companies on a national level.

In 2009, Seniors Home Care received the BBB Torch Award for business ethics. The St. Louis BBB TORCH awards recognize companies and charities that are committed to exceptional standards for ethical business practices and service to their customers, employees, suppliers, and communities.

“”As a leader in the private duty home care industry, we are dedicated to providing the best care possible.

Seniors Home Care has developed a unique training program that trains caregivers to provide exceptional home care services. This course, designed by our founder Kit Whittington R.N., B.S.N., and taught by registered nurses and physical therapists, covers both hands-on care as well as the use of assistive devices such as walkers, wheel chairs, oxygen and monitoring vital signs. We feel this training program sets us apart as an industry leader.

The state of Missouri is one of a few states that does not license private duty home care companies. As a result, the private duty industry in the state of Missouri can seem like the wild west. To prove ourselves as a leader in our industry, we have aligned with the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA), which sets a high level of standards that a private duty home care company should and must follow to be a member. These stringent standards are not easy to meet and we are proud to say that we meet and exceed them all. Some examples include:

  1. Employ not less than 90% of all direct care staff.
Seniors Home Care employs 100% of our caregivers. We take responsibility for all federal and state tax requirements, liability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance, unemployment and social security tax obligations. Seniors Home Care provides W2 documentation to the employees.
  2. Create a care plan for all clients.
Seniors Home Care utilizes skilled nurses to conduct a complimentary Initial Nursing Assessment. During the assessment process, our nurses gather a client’s medical history and physical, as well as home, evaluation. They consult the client, family, and doctor, along with any advanced directives, in creating the Care Plan. Seniors Home Care conducts nursing visits and updates the Care Plan regularly.
  3. Conduct criminal background checks and check references for all direct care staff prior to their first shift.
Seniors Home Care conducts several checks including: Family Care Safety Registry (includes six, state-run registries including criminal history), employment references, professional references, skills testing, and drug testing. All checks are completed prior to the direct care staff’s first shift.
  4. Maintain Worker’s Compensation coverage.
Seniors Home Care maintains worker's compensation insurance through Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance.
  5. Maintain professional liability coverage.
Seniors Home Care maintains general liability, professional liability, and dishonesty bonding insurance.

Seniors Home Care Exceeds the Standards of the HCAOA in the Following Ways:

A company supervisor is available around the clock.
Seniors Home Care is responsive to our clients. Our Staffing Coordinator or After-Hours Coordinator answers our phone 24/7 for all staffing/scheduling needs.

All company caregivers are orientated and supervised.
Seniors Home Care orientates all caregivers prior to hiring them through an initial company orientation that discusses company policies, procedures and protocol. Each caregiver is then orientated to each of their client’s specific care plan needs prior to their first shift with that client. Ongoing supervision is provided. Additional skill and disease training is conducted periodically for all caregivers.
