Ryan Whittington accepted the Outstanding Business Award on behalf of Seniors Home Care. Founded in 1987 by Kit Whittington and headquartered in Webster Groves, Seniors Home Care provides an increasingly important service to the community -- to enable elderly and disabled St. Louisans to live independently, in familiar surroundings and for the longest possible time -- including end-of-life.

Seniors Home Care is a family- and women-owned business, with Kit Whittington's son, Ryan, serving as director of operations, and her husband, Mark, scheduling and doing graphic design work.

Seniors Home Care currently has 162 employees, 12 who staff headquarters plus 150 screened, bonded and insured in-home caregivers ranging in age from 25 to 83.

Seniors Home Care has earned honors as the fastest-growing private company for Inc. 500/5000, and made the fastest-growing company list for St. Louis Business Journal for the years 2012 and 2013. It received the Torch Award for exceptional ethical business practices, given by the Better Business Bureau of eastern Missouri and southern Illinois.

Revenues were $3.38 million in fiscal year 2013, which was a 74 percent increase over 2010 revenues.
