Free Family Caregiver Training by Industry Experts
Family caregivers are the foundation of long-term care and aging in place. More than 65 million people (29% of the US population) spend an average of 20 hours a week caring for a loved one.
At Seniors Home Care, we team with many of these family caregivers, who may find themselves thrown into the role without much choice or experience. This means that though they are doing their best, there are many aspects of care that family caregivers may not be aware of, and sometimes don’t know they don’t know. It is easy to feel lost.
This is why we have developed SHC University, a free community course to share our experience and expertise with St. Louis family caregivers. Our mission is:
To provide education and support with compassion and understanding to families and professional caregivers using practical and interactive training by professionals in our field.
Service Through Teaching.
Courses are taught by a Seniors Home Care registered nurse and cover topics including:
- Monitoring & handling medication
- Incontinence care
- Home safety
- Proper body mechanics to protect yourself against injury
- Alzheimer’s disease / dementia awareness
- Handling caregiver stress
Currently, classes are scheduled on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm or Thursday January 22, 2015 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Seating is limited. To reserve a spot in either class, or for more information, please call our office at 314-962-2666.
Seniors Home Care has been serving the Greater St. Louis area since 1987. During this time, we have established ourselves as a great community resource. If we may be of any assistance to you, please contact us.
